A Thriving Community
Creative Programming for All Ages
Our diverse programming variety aims to satisfy the varying needs of our congregants. Programs that embrace the values of Jewish living are planned year-round. We encourage all congregants to take part in our programs and if you find that there is a program you would like to see at Har Shalom not currently offered, just Ask Carly to make it happen!
Member Planned Events
Our membership is rich in ideas! From the Debbie Karch Memorial Author visit (which has sponsored such greats as the American Girl author) to the exquisite and always entertaining Alan B. Levenson Brunch, we enjoy having our congregants put together special weekend presentations, plan a getaway or simply partake in shul activities in some capacity. What a great place to be Jewish!
Innovative Religious School
The Har Shalom Religious School inspires Jewish values and cultivates a love for Israel through an innovative learning structure and convivial classroom environment. Sara Fink, Director of Religious School, has designed our curriculum according to S.T.E.A.M, a break-through Israeli learning structure. We embrace and express a love for Israel through the used of focused Israeli programming and teaching!
Beyond Har Shalom
At Har Shalom, we believe being Jewish extends beyond the confines of the synagogue. From Good Deeds day to MLK day of service, we strive to serve others beyond our community. We enjoy spending time together away from synagogue through the annual Family Shabbaton, time with fellow area Jews at Grand Slam Sunday, Fire and Ice Hanukkah at Rockville Town Square, and many other activities. Dive in to fun living!
Havurah
Are you currently in a havurah (small group) at Har Shalom? Please contact Betsy New-Schneider at havurah@harshalom.org and let us know what type of havurah you are in (friend group, empty nesters, preschool, etc.) This is just for us to have a better understanding of what smaller communities currently exist at Har Shalom.
One of the best things about Har Shalom is the people! Are you interested in joining a group of other congregants in an informal setting (brunch, dinners, outings, etc.). If you are interested, then a havurah might be the thing for you! Please contact Betsy New-Schneider at havurah@harshalom.org.
