Afghan Cooking Class and Dinner (off-site)

Sunday, January 22, 2023 29 Tevet 5783

1:00 PM - 7:00 PM

**NOTE: The Cooking Class is now FULL, but everyone is welcome to join for dinner at 5PM - Register below**

Join us for a homemade Afghan meal on January 22 at 5pm! Maliha Nasim, the mother of one of the Afghan refugee families we support, is teaching a cooking class that prepares a meal for 50 diners.  This event is co-sponsored by Congregation Har Shalom and our interfaith partner St Francis of Potomac.  Together we will celebrate Maliha’s culinary skills, and  give her an opportunity to share her culture, practice her English, and earn some income for her family.

Maliha, along with her 10 assistants in the cooking lesson, will prepare a delicious Afghan meal for the first 50 diners who sign up.  Be sure to sign up early to reserve your seat for this fabulous night of friendship, a wonderful Afghan meal, and an insightful look at the Afghan culture.

Cooking Class Details:
The cooking class is open to 10 cooks and will take place at St Francis of Potomac from 1pm to 5pm on January 22.   The class is open to Har Shalom and St. Francis congregants. During the class, cooks will learn to prepare traditional Afghan recipes and then serve them to diners that evening.  The price for the class is $20.00 per cook, and all proceeds will go to Maliha.  Cooks are asked to bring cash for Maliha.
